Founder / Director

As a strategic and results-driven entrepreneur with a career long passion for Revenues & Benefits, Ben brings a wealth of experience to the sector. He’s spent the last 25 years harnessing his experience within Local Government and the recruitment market to catapult Business Smart Solutions as the go-to supplier for support.

Ben is known for a highly engaged and hands-on leadership style. With a strong track record in delivering end-to-end talent and bespoke Revenues & Benefits solutions, he partners closely with Local Authorities to align recruitment requirements with business objectives.

Mark Thomas

Founder / Director

Mark has built a career in recruitment and marketing over the past 15 years, working across both the public and private sectors to develop strategies that connect people with opportunities and strengthen organisations. At the heart of his work has always been a belief in putting people first and making a real difference.

As Co-Director and COO of BSS, he leads on compliance, contractor care and the systems that keep everything running smoothly. He is passionate about ensuring candidates feel supported throughout every stage of their placement, while our clients can rely on us to deliver a reliable and ethical service that makes a lasting difference to their teams and to the communities they support.

Chris Sharratt

Talent Partner

Chris joined #TeamBSS in November 2025 to lead our recruitment team. He is known for his clear communication, hands-on support, industry knowledge and commitment to long term success rather than short-term wins.

Chris has spent the past few years developing a strong belief in building long-term relationships and consistently doing what’s right for both clients and candidates. He has a proven track record of successfully recruiting all levels of seniority, supporting project-based work and delivering high-quality results.

Leanne Carey

Contracts Manager

Leanne joined #TeamBSS as an Interim Revenues Officer in June 2022, and has consistently demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism, dedication and expertise.

In June 2026, Leanne will take the lead on our growing portfolio of consultancy contracts, including off-site processing services, resilience contracts, and managed service contracts. This new permanent position reflects both Leanne's achievements and the continued growth of our business.

Sadie Ansell

Payroll Administrator

Sadie recently celebrated 5 years with the organisation. Her role as payroll administrator involves invoicing clients and ensuring that contractors get paid on time.

Steph Cadagan

Resilience Officer

I began my career in Revenues and Benefits in 2014, starting in Recovery before moving into Billing. In 2023, I transitioned to Financial Control, where I expanded my knowledge of Council Tax and the systems that support its administration. In April 2026, I joined #TeamBSS and was made to feel like family from day one.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, particularly my niece and nephew. I am also a dedicated practitioner of Taekwondo with the TAGB, achieving my Black Belt in October 2025 through commitment, discipline and perseverance.
